Ankle Pain
The ankle is considered a large joint, but it really consists of 3 joints plus the surrounding anatomic region, including the lower end of the leg and the start of the flat part of the foot. Ankle pain refers to any type of pain or discomfort in these areas. Ankle pain could be caused by an injury, such as a sprain, or by a medical condition such as arthritis. Ankle pain can be associated with many symptoms including:
- ankle swelling, bruising, redness,
- numbness or tingling, stiffness, and weakness
- instability, burning pain,
- inability to bear weight on the affected ankle
Ankle pain and injuries are more common in athletes and active adults. When the ankle does not function properly and has burning pain, swelling, brushing, redness and weakness, it can affect the entire body. The typical treatment for ankle pain is rest, ice, compression and elevation.
CHIROPRACTIC CARE FOR ANKLE PAIN
Chiropractic is very effective for treating ankle pain and injury. The chiropractor will firstly examine the patient’s source of pain and determine what is causing it. They may use x-rays, MRI, CT scan, and other types of diagnostic tools to help them select the best course of treatment. Chiropractic care for ankle pain can help reduce pain without prescription medication and the associated side effects. It is non-invasive and a natural approach to healing that allows the body to heal itself.
Chiropractor Dr. Jas Walia adjusts the joints and aligns the bones properly for healing and pain reduction. With the correct alignment of the ankle bones and joint, tension is reduced on the ligaments, tendons and muscles, which in turn, reduces inflammation in these strained tissues. When done regularly, adjustments bring correct alignment to the ankle, allow for proper blood circulation to the injured area, better range of motion and flexibility, and reduces the amount of time needed for recovery as well as the chances of injury.
